Redwood City, California, July 30, 2007 – Open-E, developer of innovative storage-software, is offering its customers more flexible capabilities now with high performance and easy usage at the same time. The storage solutions are offered with all enterprise features, that way customers get an all-in-one-package.
Additionally, Open-E introduces three new products for regular customers to the market. Owners of Open-E NAS-R3 and Open-E iSCSI-R3 upgrade their systems easily with a new licence key to the flexible unified storage solution Open-E DSS. Just as easy storage extensions with 4, 8, 16, 32 and 64 TB can be integrated with new licence keys, too.

Open-E delivers its storage software pre-configured on a small flash module, which only has to be plugged into a USB-connector on the mainboard (disk-on-module). After booting by USB, a comfortable web-interface for configuration is ready. Kernel conflicts and driver problems are avoided by design.
USB replaces IDE
In the course of the new product strategy, Open-E delivers every pre-installed module as USB-device. They boot 30 percent faster as comparable IDE-Flash-Drives and offer secure updates by storage-space for two operating systems installed side by side.
End User Prices and Availability
The USB modules with completely pre-installed storage software are available through distributors now. End user prices are $ 995 (Open-E NAS-R3), $ 689 (Open-E iSCSI-R3) and $ 1,250 (Open-E DSS). Upgrades to Open-E DSS cost $ 359 (for Open-E NAS-R3) and $ 742 (for Open-E iSCSI-R3). Storage extensions are disposable at $ 189 (4 TB) to $ 2,310 (64 TB). All prices exclude sales tax.
